Reflection

Tate Modern Trip

After a visit to Tate Liverpool, I left the Chagall exhibition with a completely different view and understanding of how other artists bring through emotion within their artwork/paintings.

Surrealistic painting 'Red Roofs' by Marc Chagall in 1954

I was specifically drawn to this piece of work from Chagall, I understood the concepts of the painting and this opened my mind as to how he works with emotion and meaning.

Once I had experienced Chagall's exhibition, I was eager to find other work I liked in the various other exhibitions! Here are some of the images I took of other artists/designers work within the gallery.

Introductory Studies

Extremely looking forward to our Introductory Studies module, having the freedom to explore within this brief will allow me to find my own style of illustration whilst experimentation processes. This will allow me to fulfil high standards of development work and finish to my artwork. Overall I am genuinely excited to make a start on the forthcoming projects and learning additional knowledge in order to become a successful designer.

Artists I am currently thinking of researching into consist of the likes of Bristol's Banksy, Obey Clothing founder & American Street Artist Shepard Fairy and a handful of other Street/Graffiti artists. I will carry on researching into new Illustrators & Designers who's style catch my attention, along with designers I have previously researched or used as inspiration. I am going to treat this project as a chance to develop a style I take throughout my future projects when necessary.
Here is an example of work from Banksy.

An Introduction to Illustrator

After researching the work of Julian Opie, I started to digitally illustrate my own portrait in the style of his work. This style is quite simple, therefore this wasn't an extremely hard task, just time consuming!

Here is my Julian Opie style Portrait (UNFINISHED)

Student Rep

Student Rep meeting tomorrow, looking forward to hearing the class' verdict after the first four weeks of the course. I personally am settled in and excited to tackle new and exciting briefs.

I am proceeding to create a corporate branding that I can use for more than one project, by doing this I can set up an Independent Streetwear label alongside my projects from the brief. Then my corporate branding is being challenged by the face of the industry. This will help me develop my corporate branding as I will see my downfalls and learn from my faults.
